Safety & compliance

E-bike safety & compliance information

All MyEbike e-bikes are supplied with the safety and compliance information required under the NSW e-micromobility information standard. This information applies to every e-bike we ship, Australia-wide.

Before using this vehicle, check the applicable local laws relating to your intended use of the vehicle on roads and road related areas.

Safe use

  • Read the manufacturer's manual before your first ride.
  • Wear an approved helmet and follow the road rules in your state or territory.
  • Do not modify the motor, controller or battery. Tampering can make the bike non-compliant and unsafe.
  • Check tyres, brakes and the battery connection before each ride.

Charging your battery safely

  • Use only the charger supplied with your bike, or a manufacturer-approved replacement.
  • Charge on a hard, flat, non-flammable surface, clear of exit paths and anything that can burn.
  • Avoid charging unattended or overnight. Never cover the battery or charger while charging.
  • Stop charging if the battery is hot, swollen, leaking or smells unusual.
  • Let the battery cool down after a ride before you charge it.

Storage

  • Store the battery in a dry place, roughly 10–30°C, out of direct sun and away from heat and moisture.
  • Keep batteries clear of exits, stairwells and flammable materials.
  • For long-term storage, keep the charge around 40–60% and top it up occasionally.

Fire prevention

  • Lithium-ion batteries can catch fire if they are damaged, overcharged or faulty.
  • Never use a damaged, swollen or water-damaged battery.
  • Fit working smoke alarms wherever bikes are charged or stored.
  • If a battery overheats, smokes or catches fire, get out and call 000. Do not try to fight a lithium-ion battery fire unless you can do so safely.

Disposal and recycling

  • Never put lithium-ion batteries in household waste or kerbside recycling bins.
  • Take damaged or end-of-life batteries to a battery recycling drop-off (such as B-cycle) or bring them in to our Fortitude Valley shop.
